Membership:

Oranco Bowmen Archery Range is a private membership club, open to its membership 7 days a week.  The advantage to being a member is the availability of the range.  When you are a member, the range is accessible for practice at the crack of dawn, mid-day, or in the evening.  When you are ready, the range is ready for you.

We are a family oriented archery range.  We know that children are our future, and we want to encourage archery as a family activity.  Your membership rate includes membership for you, your spouse, and your immediate children up to 18 years old.  We have monthly general membership meetings on the second Tuesday of each month, where we discuss and vote on a variety of issues affecting the club.  Members are strongly urged to attend the general membership meetings.

If you would like to be a member in the club, individual or family dues are only $180.00 per year, plus membership in NFAA / CBH / SAA.  There is also a $30.00 signing fee for new members.  This $30.00 fee covers membership packets and other materials, and is a one-time only fee, provided yearly membership is continued unbroken.  This gives you daily use of the range, and a monthly newsletter to keep you informed of what is happening at the range and around Southern California.  Although $180.00 may seem like a lot initially, it breaks down to just $15.00 per month.  Volunteering at the range can substantially lower the yearly membership dues.

The memberships run from June 1st to June 1st of each year.  This assists in keeping the records more manageable.  When you first sign up for an Oranco membership, the first year is pro-rate from $180.00 depending on the month you sign up for--

June - $180 July - $170 August - $160 September - $140
October - $120 November - $110 December - $100 January - $90
February - $80 March - $45 & $180 April - $30 & $180 May - $15 & $180

The above chart does NOT include the $30.00 initial sign-up fee.  This $30.00 new member/delinquent fee is charged to all new members (and delinquent members who have let their membership expire as of June 1 each year).

If you were to sign up in March, you dues would be $30.00 & $180 for the following year, a total of $210.  Due to the costs of the new member packets and other materials, we cannot accept memberships for only $15-$45.  As stated above, there is an initial sign-up fee of $30.00.  This is a one-time fee, assessed at the start of a new membership.  It is not repeated, unless current membership is allowed to expire.  It will then be charged as a new member fee.  There is also the $65.00 fee for NFAA / CBH / SAA, which starts when the application is received by NFAA.

If you do not keep your membership current, you loose your continuous membership credits toward membership anniversary awards.  You are also assessed the $30.00 sign-up fee as a new member.  But your previously recorded work parties will be safe, and will give you credit when joining later in the year.  If membership is not renewed, recorded work parties cannot be saved for a second term and are forfeited.

All members of Oranco are required to belong to the National Field Archers Association / California Bowmen Hunters / State Archery Association (NFAA / CBH / SAA) organizations.  These national organizations provide education, insurance, and assistance to all archers.  They also watch out for our rights as archers and citizens.  A CBH membership card also gives you a $5.00 registration discount for 3-D tournaments at Oranco and other archery clubs.  A separate yearly fee enrolls you with all three associations. The cost at this time is:

NFAA / CBH / SAA: Single Adult $65.00

Spouse $10.00
Youth #1 $3.00
Youth #2 $3.00

Volunteering:

We encourage everyone to take advantage of volunteering his or her services at the range.  The range covers about 45 acres, and requires regular maintenance if it is to function properly.  We do have inactive members who pay the $180.00 membership fee each year.  However, volunteering for "work parties" can reduce the yearly dues by $20.00 for each work party.  A "work party" is when we get together to perform such tasks as range maintenance, construction, assisting with tournaments, cookshack duty, and special events.  There are multiple work parties scheduled throughout the year, so finding a convenient work party should not be a problem.  The more people who come out for work parties, the less work there is for everyone.  SIX WORK PARTIES CAN REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP DUES FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR TO ZERO ($0.00)!  NFAA / CBH / SAA membership is still required.

We also have members who volunteer above and beyond the "call of duty", and for those members, we are truly grateful.  Whether it is extra work parties, or doing jobs around the range in their free time, these members are a special credit to the club.  Most of the repairs and maintenance can be done by volunteers with needed skills.  If you have a special talent, don't be a wallflower.  Lend a hand, and support the club.  You will reap the benefits of your own efforts.
